Baggy Jeans
Almost unheard of a couple of decades ago, baggy jeans have become as much of a fashion statement as designer jeans were in the eighties. It’s not enough to just buy jeans that are too big, have wide cuffs, or simply made up of a lot of fabric, baggy jeans today are serious business and you don’t want to buy the wrong style for yourself or your kids.
Outside of fashion, baggy jeans are just plain comfortable. Although tight jeans have their place in a wardrobe, many people prefer a much looser fit for hanging around at home or in the dorm room or doing chores in the yard. Men tend to be able to pull off the baggy jeans look better than females can however.
This fashion trend got it’s start in the grunge look of the early nineties with fabrics in a wide variety of colors and styles other than the plain blue denim color that’s predominate today. After the adoption of baggy jeans by hip hop stars, the style really took off and launched several fashion lines dedicated solely to outfitting the stylish urban youth rap star wannabe.
It’s safe to say that the baggy denim jean will never really go out of style. Although other jean styles are eclipsing the loose fit in today’s fashion, there’s still an army of consumers who will never embrace tighter or “skinny” jeans and will maintain demand for baggy jeans well into the conceivable future.
